Christina Asara-Konado

My love for helping people navigate life’s unavoidable pain and stressors is the reason why I chose to become a therapist. We may find ourselves in communities and situations where we are afraid to talk about our emotions and mental health issues. This can make us feel stuck, hopeless, and afraid. I believe in working together with clients to make the pain bearable, remove those fears, and navigate their lives the way they have always dreamed of.

I have a Master’s in Social Work (mental health concentration) from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Before working with Restorative Solutions Counseling, I worked with teens and adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. I also have experience working with young adults and adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and OCD.

In my work, I use Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment modalities. My approach to therapy is eclectic in nature because I believe that each person’s needs are unique to them. I also believe that there is no “ magic wand” that works for everyone, so my goal is to work with clients to create an individualized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. I do this by working together with clients every step of the way to make sure that their voices are included throughout treatment. It is true that clients will have to do some hard work, but we will do that work together.

In each session, I meet clients with an open mind, kindness, unconditional positive regard, respect, and smiles. I take the time to build rapport grounded in trust, kindness, and honesty. I’m here to talk about any fears or worries clients have as they take this bold step. I work collaboratively with clients to  come up with the best therapeutic interventions that align with their personal goals and objectives.

To those who are wondering, “Where do I start, can therapy really help, who will understand what I am going through, will I be judged, or will this ever go away?” Please reach out! This can be the beginning of endless possibilities and positive outcomes.
